Katherine J. Michon, a leader in
Massachusetts employment law and a well-known Boston employment lawyer, is acclaimed for her expertise in executive transition and sexual harassment cases. Acknowledged by Boston magazine as one of Boston's Best Employment Lawyers and lauded as "one of the best negotiators in the business." Ms. Michon brings significant experience to the table in a wide array of employment disputes, such as discrimination, wrongful termination and contract enforcement. In addition, Ms. Michon advises her clients on non-litigation matters including authoring employment agreements, negotiating executive severance and managing non-compete issues.
Ms. Michon is an active member of the Boston Bar Association's Labor and Employment Law Section as well as the BBA's Labor and Employment Law Steering Committee; she also co-chairs their Diversity Committee. Her additional responsibilities have included serving as former Chair of the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education Employment Law Advisory Committee, and co-chairing the committee that drafted sexual harassment guidelines for the
Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.
As result of her extensive experience and leadership roles in her area of expertise, Ms. Michon is a frequent author and speaker on matters of employment law. For example, she recently co-wrote the "Employment Law 101" section of Winning Legal Strategies for Employment Law (2005). Her work has appeared in publications such as
Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly and, in addition, she was a key contributor to a prominent employment law text, Drafting Employment Documents in Massachusetts, a publication of Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. Her background also includes actively participating in prominent legal seminars. Ms. Michon often appears as a panelist on "How to Try Your First Case at the MCAD" and other
Massachusetts employment law seminars.
Before she co-founded Shilepsky O'Connell Hartley Casey Michon Yelen Robb, LLP, Ms. Michon was a partner at Kimball, Brousseau & Michon. Earlier on in her career, Ms. Michon practiced employment law at Dwyer & Collora and at Shilepsky, Messing & Rudavsky. Ms. Michon earned her B.A. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and her J.D. from the New England School of Law.
